About Emily

Dr. Emily Creegan completed her undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences, her master’s degree in Soil Science, and her PhD in Biomass Utilization and Regenerative Agriculture. She has been working in the organic waste recycling field for around 20 years. Dr. Creegan is currently a Recycling Specialist II for the City of San Diego’s Environmental Services Department. With her colleagues, Dr. Creegan works on SB 1383 and green bin roll-out organic waste recycling projects. She creates and conducts education, marketing, and research projects with the City’s Miramar Greenery. The Greenery produces compost and mulch products from organic waste. Dr. Creegan is leading a Greenery contamination study where green bin contamination content pre and post roll-out is being assessed. She is assisting with a comprehensive marketing campaign for organic waste recycling and the City’s green bin roll out. Dr. Creegan also works on recycling education/outreach grant writing and other projects.
